Well, we’ve definitely kicked off our 2018 exhibition calendar in the right way! We have just opened with our first exhibition of the year, our Charity Open Art Exhibition in aid of Andover Trees United.
On the evening of Monday 15th January, we opened our doors to the public and our competition’s artists for an evening of art, good food, wine and fundraising; and what a success it was! Not only did we have a great turnout generally, we were also honoured to have had the presence His Worshipful The Mayor, Cllr Carl Borg-Neal and His Mayoress, Mrs Maria Neal, at our event.
This year’s competition sees a total of 52 entries on display (4 Children’s entries and 48 entries for over 16’s) which is such a great number – think of how much money that could raise if all 52 entries sell at£40 by the end of the exhibition!?!
We would like to say a special thank you to Andover artists, Keith Pattison and Renate West, for taking on the tough job of deciding a winner out of all the entries!
It took some deliberating but the results they reached were:
1st Place Adult Winner (£150 cash prize):
Peter Moore – Entry #38, ‘Winter Tree’
Children’s Category Winners (Book Vouchers):
Charlotte Williams – ‘Wonderland’
Ellie Marie – ‘Sunflower’
Connor Lambert – ‘The Grey Wolf’
Abigail Creese – ‘Gabby the Giraffe’
Teresa Munn – Entry #19, ‘Autumn View’
Colin Adey – Entry #21, ‘Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall’
Sue Jones – Entry #48, ‘Ruby Tiger’
Congratulations to all the winners!
We also hope that everyone who has entered the competition this year is extremely proud of their work – the standard this year has been very high and judging was a very difficult event!
Don’t forget, we still have the People’s Choice Award still to be decided! This relies on a public vote which can be cast in the Gallery and will be announced on 3rd February – the winner will receive a £50 framing voucher for Ace Framing and Art Gallery in Andover.
All entries can still be viewed at The Gallery and will be on display until Saturday 3rd February.
Don’t forget that all entries are available to buy for £40 and the proceeds of picture sales will be going to Andover Trees United, to help create more accessible, green spaces in our local area.
We hope to see you all soon!
